1995 BMW M3-R
What is the M3-R?
The M3-R is a homologation car native to the Australian Domestic Market. There was a period through the 90s where Australia was pushing ahead with automotive innovation, particularly in motorsports, and this resulted in a bunch of interesting cars being built locally with full factory support. One of these cars was the 1995 BMW M3-R built on the E36 platform. Below is a media release for the car issued by BMW in 1995:
The Cars
#000 is a Dakar Yellow 1994 E36 M3. Set apart from the other cars for being the test bed that the others were developed from, it is a bit older and has been extensively raced. The items that confirm the car as an M3-R are the DTM from splitter and wing, and the purpose built CAI intake that was only found on the 16 M3-Rs and on no other variant.
